Matty in NYC knows his Starbuck

OK, so Mr. Geek is here. Intellectual Proterties, such as the rights to
Battlestart Gallactica, have agents, like actors. Some very smart person
started selling the rights to Battlestar Gallactica successully. It's
called product placement. Almost every item you see in TV shows, movies,
and items in commercials that are not the item they are selling and
headhunters scowering the set decorator offices giving their stuff away.

The fact that suddenly you are seeing this show may indicate some sort of
lawsuit is over, or the agent has changed or somebody died. Maybe we can
soon view it on some cable channel on a regular basis like Charlies Angels?

ciao,

Joan slams Philips

and also, with the philips thing, the theme is the song with the line "have
to admit its getting better"... without the follow up line "can't get no
worse!"

Rob's just a tad paranoid...not that they're NOT out to get him

Paul:

I think that Baltaar is up to his old tricks again. The Cylon fleet is
massed in the upper stratosphere. Lorne Greene is slaughtering horses to
keep up the supply of Alpo which is the only thing that is keeping those
bastards satisfied. You may wonder why cyborg creatures want to eat Alpo
(or not). Tastes just like chicken. Anyway these few, brave
commercialeers are trying desperately to get the word out without being too
obvious. The only problem is that I'M the ONLY ONE who REALLY KNOWS. So,
for God's sake, take to the stars!!!!

Ah-hem. I'm feeling better now. Really.

Rob

PS: The little bugger in the ole Buck Rogers show was name Twiki not
Twiggy. Although I think it would have been fun to cram long legged
untermodel Twiggy into the little costume. But that's just me.

Tim knows a bit too much about the convention scene...

It is stange - but true! And have you noticed that the actors portraying
the Galacticans don't look like what you'd expect to find at a Battlestar
Galactica convention? Maybe Howie Long felt the same way I did, as a
prepubescent boy, about that actress who played Athena? Although, he seems
more the Wilma Deering type to me.

Tim

Brian chimes in

It is my thought on this has been that it is such a general "space shot" that some poeple will think it is from Star Wars.  I bet the $ to get the Star Wars/Lucus OK was too much.
Brian

Jeremy, by your command

Paul -

Watch a lot of commercials - battlestar is always there. Especially the fight sequence where the fighter gets blown up by the silons. It seems to me its popularity may be in that when the movie was released after the long tv run - it was the first film to be released in Sensaround - or as we know it today - Surround Sound. Perhaps that it is why you see it so much.
