Weezy is in the building!

On June 23rd, 2001, a 3 yr old Cardigan Welsh Corgi named Weezy became a member of the Preston household. She's a former showdog who earned a number of American Kennel Club points before the breeders she lived with decided to have her spayed and find her a home.

Weezy (previous name Kierstyn) had a litter of puppies a while back but it didn't go so well. She had to have a C-Section. Her son Jared is HUGE, and it's no surprise he couldn't take the front door! Weezy is also a little smaller than most of the Corgis she kept company with, and when she went into heat, the dogs she lived with would knock her around quite a bit. So, as we mentioned, the breeders made the wise choice of spaying her and finding her a loving home.

Now, Weezy is the Queen of the Castle! We met her through the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America's rescue division, and we made a generous donation to thank them. Wonderful ladies by the name of Helen Turin, Kathy Steele, and Sandra Shahinian made the transition easy for everyone.

She grew up as Kierstyn, and, to some children she used to be around, "Kissy". We just couldn't go with "Kissy" - Paul wasn't about to shout "Kissy" across a dog park... So, we wanted a name that said "going from rags to riches", from small dog in the yard, to the main dog in the house. Cinderella? That certainly encapsulated the idea. No...

WEEZY!

Straight from "The Jeffersons", The Weez is Movin' on Up! So, we LOVE having the dog around, as you can imagine, Karen is in a constant state of Doggie Euphoria!! We had been living through other people's dogs for years.

One of them is Starbuck, who lives with Karen's friend Marla Piazza in New York. Weezy wanted to send a shout out to him.
